  I`m perplexed; What legislates for the gross lack of love?

  i`ve been out of the org for a while now and im perplexed about why there is such a lack of genuine live in the cong`s.

  when you think about it, they are taught to exemplify jc, they are taught to exemplify the 'god of love'.

  the brothers are constantly encouraged at ms & elder meetings to deal with the brothers 'lovingly'.

  I think it all fell apart down the hall when we were told by the co to stop associating outside the hall as a congregation. by that I mean there were no longer congregation zoo trip or days out, in-fact groups of 4 or more were frowned upon.

  My congregation took the counsel to heart and became very frosty. A few years later a different Co got up on the platform and told us all off for not being very friendly as a congregation!

  This is exactly what happened to my hall years ago - no get-togethers with the exception of showers and funerals - blah!!!! We became known as the clicky cold congregation of the south side (of Milwaukee). The back stabbing and paranoia of everyone really got out of had the less everyone associated together. I missed the picnics with baseball, volley ball and grilling. And the community center gatherings in winter with basketball, pool, bowling, and of course FOOD with a convenient bar on site . The more rules enacted the less joy will be in that org. The more fear and depression

  The conditionality of every action and the fear of anothers' action reflecting on you so you would rather avoid a friend than risk your own neck, even in the smallest of situations. Even in the case of a percieved failing or error. LOVE in this org is really just a control tool.

  fullofdoubtnow - I am like your friend - I can't go near a KH, much less enter one. I have too much hatred. I know the end result of DA is the same as DF but I thought at least it would be my decision. Nathan Natas- it would be so much easier to do as you say if my JW family didn't exist! Seriously though, I am already shunned completely and have moved 2 1/2 hrs drive from them so tracking me down for a DFing would take a lot of effort. I just don't want WBTS to have power over me ever again.

  Now that I am not trying to please JWs, I am happier, feel less guilt and shame, Have true friends, less stress and anxiety, less fear. I think it will just keep getting better!

Like the guys didn't enjoy looking at the married ones too! A rule for a while was that all sisters need to sit in the back seat for service, it is more descreet. Unless, of course, there were no males. THEN it was OK.

  Special Field Service Campaign at DA

  i have this memory of going to a da back in the mid to late seventies -- i was about 8 years old -- and there was a special field service campaign.

  seems to me that one of the assembly days was shortened and everyone was given a service kit -- some tracts in a plastic bag -- and everyone was to go out and preach for the remainder of the afternoon.

  i remember going with my dad to get in line to pick up the bag of tracts and then going into the neighborhood around the stadium to witness.

  Yes, we were in a terrible neighborhood in Chicago, Il area. My father was terrified for us and we stayed together as a family. He kept praying over us. It was all public housing, gangs and we were personally attacked. I will never forget. I was so scared and angered that he put us in that situation, believing that God would protect us, when we entered the situation so willingly. The bible tells us we have to have some responsibility for ourselves. Solely expecting God to save us, is not the way of the Bible.

  i'm glad you finally started posting -- i know everyone here who hasn't met you will love you and those who have met you already appreciate you, even if you didn't take part in the moon party on my front lawn last saturday!.

  for those of you who don't know, broken_wolf is my dear friend margaret, the brilliant editor and graphic designer of brian mcglothin's book "have you seen my mother?".

  even though she was never saddled with the burden of being a jw, she appreciates what we've all been through and admires the courage it takes to walk away from such a high mind control group.

  Cruzanheart, is this the book about a man that was kidnapped from his mother? I wanted to buy this book and read it but lost the link and couldn't remember the name of the book. One of the effects of head trauma. Please give more information on this book. Thank you - WW
